The Association of British Theatre Technicians (ABTT) Theatre Show will be moving from The Old Truman Brewery to the West Hall at Alexandra Palace for the 2015 show. Show dates for 2015 will be June 24 and 25.
The Theatre Show began its life as The ABTT Trade Show at The Donmar Warehouse in Central London in 1978, since when it has been staged in a variety of venues including The Round House in North London and Riverside Studios in West London.
Changes in the calendar of European trade exhibitions have dictated that the established Theatre Show dates were not available for 2015 and so the ideal opportunity to review the future time and location of the event has arisen. Over recent years, exhibitor demand has been rising and there has been an increasing need to find a new venue, which will become a permanent home for the show.
“Surprisingly, it fits the bill on a number of levels” quotes Roger Fox, Show Director. “Within the venue is the most extraordinary Victorian Theatre, which opened in 1875. We arrive at The Alexandra Palace at the point when funding has been sourced for a major redevelopment programme for this theatre. To be at Alexandra Palace feels like a natural home for a Theatre Show. The facilities are excellent and we now have good quality space to grow the show” ment of this theatre.
Roger Fox is one of the original organising team and in recent years has overseen the growth of The Theatre Show as Show Director. “I have witnessed extraordinary innovation and progress over the years and it is testament to the value of the event that three companies have exhibited at all of the Shows. One thing hasn’t changed though. It is the value and relevance of The ABTT Theatre Show to the theatre industry. The community that comes together every summer needs the best possible space to make the experience a valuable one.”BACK
