Why choose us?

The Association of British Theatre Technicians benefits from a lively and hugely experienced board, which undertakes the core of the specialist work through dedicating their time and knowledge. The organisation’s activities are lead by CEO Robin Townley and functions in a collegiate, co-driven and ambitious environment.

The association endeavours and continues to grow its membership subscriptions and runs a handful of specialist committees, training courses, publishes books and magazines and most notably the ‘Yellow Book’; the industry must-have backstage bible of good practice in (technical) theatre and performance.

The role:

The purpose of this post is to provide effective office support, expand the ABTT’s reach and reputation, ultimately increasing membership subscriptions and association activities. The ABTT team is relatively small and is based in our Central London office. The day-to-day responsibilities are often based around taking and directing calls and enquiries, having said this we would like the post holder to have the ability and ambition to grow within the role, along with the Association.

Your profile:

The ABTT is seeking a dynamic and organised professional to join the team. We are looking for an ambitious individual with experience of office administration to coordinate the ABTT’s activities and membership services.

 Main responsibilities:

- Coordinating ABTT membership activities, communications, publications and events

including the annual Theatre Show

- Responding to member enquiries, new memberships and renewals

- Organising Council meetings, taking minutes and preparing papers

- Maintaining membership databases and ABTT archives

- Manipulating data electronically and basic use of website and email mailshot software

- Ensuring the smooth running of the office and its administrative systems

Though internal staff management is not initially part of the job, responsibility and opportunity could grow with the development of the business. Some people-management skills, experience or natural ability will be useful.
