Description
COMPUTER AIDED DRAUGHTING
This course consists of six parts and will prepare participants for the ABTT 2D Computer Aided Drawing with AutoCAD. The tutor is David Ripley, cad4theatre.
After completing the final part (number six) the ABTT will award an AutoCAD skills certificate. This will be subject to candidates completing the excise taken at the end of each part.
The course is structured so that you can create simple drawings after Part 1. In subsequent parts, you will return several times to areas already covered, building knowledge and exploring alternative methods of achieving results. The idea is to give you a foundation of skills, allowing you to start using the program straight away and build on your knowledge. Each section of the manual is about 40 -50 pages long and should take about 10 hours to complete. This will vary from person to person and is structured to allow you to work at your own pace. At the end of each module there is a two-part assessment. The first is a multiple choice exercise to test your knowledge, followed by a timed drawing exercise to enable you to demonstrate your knowledge, progress and efficiency in using AutoCAD. The ABTT has set up a CAD E-mail address so any queries comments or problems can be dealt with via email.
Course Costs: The cost of each part of the course is £80 + VAT.
Software Costs: The current version of AutoCAD 2012 may be purchased upon registration, from the ABTT office at £130 + VAT. The period covered by each registration is five years.
After completion of all the parts (1-6) , candidates may undertake the ECDL CAD qualification. This is for students and professionals who are seeking an internationally recognised qualification to certify their current core CAD skills. This certification can be taken at local colleges for a fee of around £50.
ECDL CAD certifies that an individual who has successfully completed the qualification has the skills and knowledge to use the standard software and features of most CAD applications.
