Free Event

Royal Conservatoire of Scotland,

At the first meeting of the ABTT Council after the incorporation of the ABTT which took place on Friday 31st October 1975, it was agreed that a number of ABTT committees be constituted.

These included an:
ABTT (Scotland) Regional Committee

What has happened to ABTT Scotland?
Should it be ABTT Alba?

With specific Scottish legislation such as the Building (Scotland) Regulations 2004 and the Scottish Building Standards Technical Handbooks 2019, there are certainly parts of Technical Standards for Places of Entertainment that need to acknowledge variations between Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales, but the Health and Safety at Work Act applies throughout all the nations and regions and touring product continues to cross legislative borders without pause.

With theatres, productions, festivals, capital projects and training vibrant is Scotland, would now be the time to reboot a national ABTT forum?

Please accept an open invitation to attend this exploratory meeting to be held at RCS.  There will be a buffet lunch and plenty of opportunity to discuss the merits of revitalising a Scottish ABTT network.

Whether you are a past member of ABTT Scotland, a current practitioner, or training to enter the sector, you would be very welcome to join an open discussion: architect, engineer, consultant, manufacturer, supplier, technician, production practitioner, student, trainee, HOD, Manager, or owner – please come along to express your thoughts.
