Arts Council England: Introduction to technical theatre for ages 16-25, IdeasTap and NSDF

Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

An Introduction to Technical Theatre and Stage Management

Creative and Cultural Skills and National Student Drama Festival are inviting up to 200 individuals aged 16-25 to be part of a series of workshops run by industry professionals including members of the NSDF professional technical teams covering lighting operation and design, sound operation and design, and stage management.

The workshops will take place at the Backstage Centre on either Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 January 2015 – the Saturday workshops are for beginners and the Sunday workshops for people with some experience/knowledge.

This is a chance for you to learn new skills in an industry-standard training centre. You’ll learn the basics of lighting and sound, and have a chance to operate the latest equipment.

After this, five IdeasTap members will be invited to join the National Student Drama Festival technical team and work on the festival in Scarborough, from 28 March to 3 April 2015.

As a member of the technical team, you’ll develop a wide range of technical skills; from lighting and sound, to venue design and ground-up venue construction. This is a weeklong intensive work experience that will look amazing on your CV.
