Show Relay

Postby Uncle Harvey » Thu Apr 01, 2010 4:13 pm

Hi.

I am investigating the possibility of installating a show relay where I operate
at. I Know a 100V line is probally the best option. I also know that the total
power output of all the spaekers must not exceed that of the Amp.

My intital question is of selecting the output power for the speakers. Is there
a rule of thumb i.e. power v room size ?

Thanks

Alan.

Not really - ambient noise is the issue. So in a chorus dressing room, maximum volume needs to be enough to get over the twittering, but in a smaller room, maybe a single person size - the tap settings can be lower. That said, it's pretty common to have just one or maybe two different size (and volume) loudspeaker housings and just select the taps to suit - then add them up and select the appropriate amp rating.
