Automation Engineer

We are looking for an Automation Engineer to take the lead role on projects, getting involved in the design, testing and commissioning of industrial control systems.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising directly with customers and clients, maintain and enhance the quality of the company’s service and ensure excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Assisting in development of products.
  • Basic knowledge of commercial aspects of projects.
  • Working proactively, taking the initiative where required.
  • Recording all work performed on site in a thorough and methodical way.
  • Performing electrical inspections of existing systems as required.
  • Assisting other departments as and when required.
  • Working with the project and design departments to deliver high-quality automation systems that meet all specifications, delivered in a cost-effective and timely manner.
  • Responsibility for factory testing and pre-commissioning of new control systems before shipping, as well as on-site commissioning and handover to clients.
  • Playing an active role in the automation engineering team, and work with other departments to ensure the smooth running and economical success of the company.
  • Adhering to defined deadlines and schedules, whilst remaining within budgetary constraints.
  • Resolving any issues arising with colleagues in a professional manner.
  • Ensuring health and safety policies are adhered to.


  • Minimum 2.1 degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent vocational experience
  • Good knowledge in PLC programming
  • Good knowledge in Control theory
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Good aptitude for electrical fault finding
  • Knowledge of mechanical fault finding
  • Minimum 1 year’s experience in similar role
  • Good fault finding ability
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Windows and Office
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexible attitude to work
  • Interest in theatre
