JOB VACANCY: SOUND & VIDEO, RESOURCES AND LIGHTING TECHNICIAN ROLES AVAILABLE AT NATIONAL THEATRE

We are looking to expand our current pool of Sound & Video Technicians, Sound & Video Resources Technicians and Lighting Technicians at the National Theatre.

Sound & Video Technician

The Sound & Video Technicians are responsible for the technical realisation of NT productions from concept through to daily running of shows. They play a key operational role in the production process, providing a consistently high standard of technical support to creative ambition.

We welcome applications from those with previous experience as a sound and/or video technician, within a theatre or other live performance environment, and a proactive, flexible and collaborative approach to working.

Please note this is a casual contract.

Sound and Video Resources Technician

The Sound & Video Resources Technicians provide technical support across the NT for all activities outside of the theatres. This includes working on events, exhibitions and undertaking workshop based tasks. The Resources team also support our annual festival River Stage which is across 5 weekends over summer.

This role requires an adaptable and flexible approach in responding to requirements. It would suit someone who is an all-rounder, with great personal skills as well as technical knowledge and skills including the ability to manufacture and repair cabling and panel work to a high standard.

Please note this is a casual contract.

Lighting Technician

The Lighting Department’s vision is to enable each Lighting Designer to experience the same standard of technical excellence and support in the realisation of their design, regardless of which theatre their production is being staged in.

Lighting Technicians are required to rig, focus, and maintain lighting rigs and operate lighting control systems on National Theatre productions.  They may be invited to assist with the lighting design.  The work may be carried out on any of the National’s stages, relevant working areas, and at designated outside venues on tour.

We’re looking for candidates with the ability to diagnose and rectify faults on lighting control systems and equipment, good communication and administrative skills, and an up to date knowledge of current LX equipment and working practices.
