Theatre Technician: (Sound/AV)

The position will be at Hafren Theatre, Newtown College

Salary:                       Scale 3, Points 17 – 20, £17,662 – £18,902 per annum.

Hours of work:        37 hours per week (including early mornings, evenings and weekends).

Contract:                  Permanent, Full Time.

Location:                  NPTC Group of Colleges (initially based at Hafren Theatre, Newtown College).

Qualifications:         Ideally you should possess a Level 5 qualification (HND or equivalent) in relevant discipline and have relevant experience. You should hold a level 2 qualification in English and Maths (GCSE or equivalent) and be IT literate to Level 2.

Responsible To:     Hafren: Technical Manager

Job Purpose:          To provide technical and complementary forms of support related to the operation of the Theatre and the promotion of its varied activities.

Principal Responsibilities

  • To assist with the get ins/get outs of productions, shows, events and conferences;
  • To install, maintain and operate all sound/AV equipment;
  • To set up monitors, rig band equipment and live sound checks;
  • To operate the sound desk, repair, maintain and organise equipment;
  • To assist in unloading, setting up, dismantling, and loading sets/equipment as required
  • To prepare the facility and resources for use and to undertake any associated activities;
  • To correctly operate the technical equipment, resources and procedures as appropriate for the various uses made of the Theatre;
  • To perform those duties associated with the safe maintenance and repair of equipment, facilities and fittings
  • To liaise with users of the Theatre regarding agreement over the use of the facility and its various resources;
  • To carry out those designated duties required to ensure the security of the facility and the safety of its various users;
  • To undertake those duties concerned with the training and instruction of others in the approved use of equipment, technical resources and operational procedures;
  • To maintain correctly all records and documentary procedures required;
  • To prepare and operate the various technical resources and procedures     associated with Theatre Hafren;
  • To maintain, repair and install equipment, fittings and facilities.
