Job: Participation Development Officer

Location: Chelmsford City Theatres

Salary:  £24,606 to £27,126 per annum – Permanent, Full time

Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic Participation Development Officer to work at Chelmsford City Theatres. You will be instrumental in creating and delivering an innovative education and outreach function, seeking to grow their audience base and encourage greater levels of participation within the Theatres.

Chelmsford City Theatres plays host to two ‘receiving house’ performance spaces; the main 501 seat Civic Theatre and the smaller Picture House Cinema, Cramphorn Theatre. Entertaining more than 100,000 visitors every year, our Theatres are entering an exciting new phase as we look to invest in the future of arts and culture across our City.

The new management team will be responsible for delivering first class services to all visitors and users of the venue, seeking to grow our audience base and appeal to a broader range of potential theatregoers. Through innovative use of resources, clever programming and developing revenue generation, this role will be essential in shaping Chelmsford City Theatres for the future.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Theatre Management Team in the delivery of an engaging programme of activities, events and outreach, that aims to extend and diversify the reach and impact of the Theatres Service. This can be working with local societies, groups or charities, looking at opportunities to deliver new experiences and address issues, though the development of activities which may be funded externally and to which you will seek and develop bid submissions.

This is a fun and interesting role for an individual who is keen to make arts and culture accessible to a wide range of audiences, to inspire them and create memorable experiences whilst helping to shape the future of Chelmsford Theatres.
