PHILIP WINDSOR SPANNER AWARD 2016
Call for Nominations
The ABTT honours the special long-term contributions of Phillip Windsor to ABTT North (later NorthNet) and to the ABTT in general by the presentation of the Philip Windsor Spanner Award. As an engineer his contributions were both in practice and method allied to the application of computer technology, and for many years he was involved in lighting amateur shows. ABTT NorthNet has symbolised his contributions by the creation of the Spanner Award: after major surgery and while still confined to hospital, Philip asked his wife Anne to bring him a spanner, he wanted to adjust the anglepoise lamp over his bed – once a lighting man, always a lighting man.
The recipient of the Philip Windsor Spanner Award will be an individual of either amateur or professional status, who, over a long period of time, has made a special and significant contribution to theatre, through work of a technical or allied nature.
The recipient will be awarded an engraved, plated and practical ‘Bahco’ spanner to be presented at the ABTT Theatre Show or at a suitable alternative meeting. If the nominee is not already an ABTT Member or Associate, then they will be offered one years subscription.
The nominees will be considered by ABTT NorthNet and recommended to the ABTT Council.
Any individual may nominate any person who is working or engaged in theatre as above. The nomination should be received by the ABTT Office and may be accompanied by such additional information as the Proposer feels appropriate.
