Max Fordham Consulting Engineers are award-winning designers of energy-efficient systems for building services and the wider environment. We also offer specialist consultancy ranging from acoustics to masterplanning. Buildings are responsible for over half the carbon emissions produced by our society, and we aim to minimise their impact on the environment by making use of passive design, considering building form and how it influences the environment within. We also advise on strategies for generating renewable energy. Winners of The Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development, we have over 100 engineers working out of offices in London, Cambridge, Edinburgh, and Milan In our extensive experience of working on auditoria we have gained a reputation for producing innovative and appropriate solutions to challenging briefs. Our approach ensures that the running and operating costs of auditoria are reduced. At an early stage we analyse the building envelope and fabric, as well as the services, to see where the undesirable heat losses and gains are taking place so that they can be addressed through the design. Sensitive integration of the services is especially important in auditoria, which often have intricate finishes and limited space for services installations. Particularly in refurbished buildings, the challenge of the services installation is to integrate complex systems with minimal impact on the fabric. Our close understanding of the technical requirements of theatre specialists greatly contributes to the coordination of the services and complex theatre technical systems.
