Join our online sessions from all over the world!
ITEAC is the International Theatre Engineering and Architecture Conference, a global forum to look at the places where we make and experience performance.

Building on the success of ITEAC 2018, our next conference will be back in 2023 - being more ambitious than ever, based not only in London, but in three primary centres around the globe!

Ahead of the conference, ITEAC begins this autumn with 'ITEAC Horizon' - a series of short online sessions curated by theatre-makers around the world on 6th October 2022. Join us for a day of FREE  45 minute online sessions exploring the diverse and wide-ranging challenges facing global theatre today!

Our FREE online sessions begin in Tokyo and follow the sun across the world to end 13 hours later in Bogota. You can follow the day live by registering here!

Beginning our exploration of the themes of Environmental Sustainability, Digital and Community, we’ll be looking at recent Japanese theatres designed to engage with their communities, at cutting-edge work from New York and London in virtual and augmented reality.

We’ll examine sustainability in Australia, and the push to support digital development across Hong Kong, Seoul and Singapore. We’ll hear a debate from Paris about the theatre of the future, and be inspired by the visionary work of Idartes in Colombia. National Theatre Wales has integrated communities into its decision-making. Surprise Lab in Taiwan has reached out to audiences beyond theatre. From Mumbai we'll look at the challenge of creating new communities for a new building, while from Mexico and Colombia we discuss how to create spaces for performance in vulnerable communities, and look at how the ground-breaking Art of Facing Fear used digital innovation creatively to generate a global experience of performance.

ITEAC 2023

ITEAC exists to stimulate a conversation about what the creators of the performance and its audiences will require of the spaces in which they work. It has always promoted the exploration and dissemination of best practice and championed innovation that helps inform future trends in the world of live performance. In the next edition of ITEAC the ABTT seeks to provide a platform for contributions from around the World, making ITEAC truly INTERNATIONAL.

ITEAC 2023 will be held simultaneously across several time zones, with global hubs in Tokyo, London and Bogota and with contributing Partners from multiple locations in between. ITEAC 2023 will be available both on an online conference platform and as delegate gatherings in a variety of locations around the globe stimulating face-to-face elements of discussion, debate and discourse.

More information about the format of the event, its sessions and the speakers will be released during the next few months both on the website, through the press and our social media channels. Delegate Rates and ticket availability will be released once Registration opens in early 2023.

There will be a wide range of ways in which organisations and individuals will wish to be involved and partner ITEAC 2023.  We  would always be interested to discuss new ideas for promoting and developing the event. If you have a specific query, please do get in touch with the Conference Organiser, via the ABTT - iteac@abtt.org.uk.
