ABTT Training Co-ordinator: Geoffrey Joyce

Geoffrey is the ABTT’s Training Co-ordinator. He travels the world and the UK, creating and teaching courses to develop skills, knowledge and best practice throughout the industry. He is currently a Production Manager and Health and Safety adviser. He contributes his knowledge in Technical Standards and many of the Codes of Practices alongside many other publications throughout his career.

Geoffrey is the facilitator and training programme leader for the ABTT. His exemplary introductory training courses distil a suite of vocational skills, to provide the essential grounding that ensures a new entrant to technical theatre will be safe backstage.

He has established the content and delivery of the ABTT training programmes throughout the UK. These are based upon vocational practice and are deliverable in the work place. As such, these industry-recognised qualifications are very much in demand by employers for a new generation of technicians.

Much of Geoffrey’s work has been undertaken on a voluntary basis and much of ABTT’s training would not exist without his dedication.

ABTT Training Co-ordinator Geoffrey Joyce has been instrumental in forging the career paths of so many of today’s working theatre technicians through his creation of the ABTT Bronze Award. Through his personal conviction and resolve Geoff has established a relevant, accessible and vocational training provision for young people wishing to commence careers in technical theatre.
