Having trained at Mountview himself, Andy began his career as a scenic carpenter, before quickly moving on to master carpenter roles at regional theatres. His career later moved into the education sector, where he taught technical theatre at both further and higher education level, before progressing on to leadership roles. Prior to his current appointment Andy was Director of Production at Mountview. Alongside his work in theatre and education, Andy has undertaken commercial projects for theme parks, enabling him to bring a very wide experiential view to the ABTT committee. With a personal interest in historical theatre, specifically stage engineering, Andy is passionate about keeping scenic stage craft skills alive alongside the technological advances used in today’s workshops.

Andy is currently Venue & Estates Director at Mountview, having overseen their recent £28 million capital project move to Peckham. As a key member of the design team creating two brand new performance spaces, he was able to bring his experience and knowledge developed over 30 years working in the theatre industry.

Andy FranksI very much look forward to bringing the breadth of my experience, passion for theatre and love of being an educator to my role as an ABTT trustee. I will relish the opportunity to help deliver training, spearhead campaigns to strengthen the work that the organisation currently carries out.
