Take practical steps with the 5 Rs
HSE’s Working Minds campaign provides free tools, guidance and training to help employers prevent work-related stress and support mental health conversations.
The campaign’s 5 Rs approach is shown in the video, focusing on simple actions that make prevention routine:
– Recognise – spot changes in behaviour, productivity, or engagement early
– Reach out – start a simple conversation with your team
– Respond – adjust workloads, offer flexibility, or provide extra support
– Reflect – consider what’s working and what could be better
– make it Routine – regular check-ins create a supportive environment
Quick Tips for Employers

– ask how people are feeling and listen
– discuss upcoming challenges and what support is available
– adjust workloads or offer flexibility where needed
