ABTT Awards 2026: Celebrating the best of technical theatre
The winners of the 2026 ABTT Awards have been announced, following a ceremony at Alexandra Palace on 3 June as part of the ABTT Theatre Show.
This year's awards recognised twelve winners across two categories — Product Awards celebrating the best new innovations on the show floor, and People Awards honouring the individuals and organisations making a difference across the UK.
Product Award winners
The product awards celebrate the best new innovations on the show floor, judged by an independent panel who toured the show floor at this year’s Theatre Show.
- The ABTT Sound Product of the Year went to d&B Audiotechnik for the U-Series, the first speaker portfolio to offer AC, PoE++ and Passive capability alongside Milan protocol network connectivity.
- Robe UK Ltd took the Lighting Product of the Year for the T3 Profile™ featuring ProFrost™.
- Trend Tool Technology won Engineering Product of the Year for the Trend SmartBench CNC.
- The inaugural ABTT Sustainable Product of the Year — a new award for 2026, reflecting the ABTT’s commitment as a founding partner of the Theatre Green Book — was awarded to Beck Fastening / Reset Scenery for LIGNOLOC®.
- Extrabits Trading Limited won the Widget of the Year for the Response Grab Bag with Defibrillator, and MediaCo Group was named Stand of the Year.
People Award winners
Technical theatre is built on people who give everything to their craft — often invisibly, rarely in the spotlight. The People Awards are our chance to change that. Every winner tonight has been nominated by someone who simply couldn’t let their contribution go unrecognised.
- Andrew Sturley (Torch Theatre) was named ABTT Technician of the Year.
- Dan Young (Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff) received the Nick Bache ABTT Cymru Technician of the Year Award.
- Djomi Tsate (Watford Palace Theatre) won the Award for Emerging Excellence.
- Sarah Ray-Dobson (National Theatre Props Workshop) was the inaugural winner of the new ABTT Apprentice of the Year Award.
- Sian McCabe (Welsh National Opera) won the Award for WHAM Design
- Cate Mackie (Everyman and Playhouse, Liverpool) won the Award for Costume
- SAIL (Sustainability Arts and Industry Leaders) received the Award for Environmental Sustainability.
