Calling Creative Venue Technicians! Join in with BBC Bitesize Careers Tour

Want to share your experiences and insights to help inspire and inform the next generation? BBC Bitesize's long-running Careers Tour is back for its 8th successive run, and they are looking to connect with Creative Venue Technicians across the UK who may be interested in potentially joining the tour as panellists.
The tour has become a flagship BBC event that supports secondary school students across the UK in their career endeavours. Over the years, they have worked with a wide range of leading organisations such as Haribo, Coca-Cola, the National Theatre, Royal Ballet & Opera, Lloyds Bank, and Vodaphone among many others. BBC Bitesize will visit over 110,000 secondary school students across the UK from September 2026 to January 2027. The aim is to visit a different secondary school each day (Tues-Fri) and run 4 x 1-hour sessions in each school. Each 1-hour session is led by an experienced BBC presenter, who speaks to three professionals from the local area about their career path covering topics such as; relevant qualifications, career progression, advice on work experience, and key soft skills for the workplace. The sessions are interactive and include a Q&A session where students can ask questions about the panellists’ careers, but they will not be recorded or televised.
BBC Bitesize are looking for panellists who have a passion for their industry and for inspiring young people. That doesn’t mean you have to be the loudest or most confident in the room, you could just be someone who students can relate to; a panel of local people who are open with their experiences. Ultimately, each panel should reflect young diverse individuals from the area and showcase a range of different career paths. For example, one panellist may have known what they wanted to do from a young age and followed the traditional university route, whilst another panellist may have left school unsure of their career path and ‘fallen’ into a role they now love.
Young Technicians
This year, BBC Bitesize are working with their partners at Technicians: We Make the Difference, which promotes apprenticeships, technical careers, and technical education with young people.
We’re specifically looking to invite apprentices and early-career technical staff who:
- Have not previously completed a university degree
- Are aged 30 or under
- Job matches one of the 100 roles listed on this website: https://www.technicians.org.uk/browse-the-roles/.
