ABTT Members can now join us on our next fascinating backstage tour and talk at New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth.

The main house at the New Theatre Royal has a beautiful Victorian auditorium designed by the famous architects Charles Phipps and Frank Matcham, and is one of the last few remaining Phipps/Matcham theatres in operation. The traditional Proscenium-arch stage with orchestra pit, is a modern construction of an original 1884/1900 Phipps/Matcham Theatre, with  access to the stage for load-in available via Spring Lane at the side of the building.

Arrival will be  from 12.15pm for a 12:45pm start. Please find the agenda below:

1215 – 1245:     Arrival, meeting in main Foyer – Tea, Coffee and biscuits being provided.

1245–1415:     Tour of the Venue

The theatre is a short walk from Portsmouth and Southsea rail station and there is also a bus stop 500m from the Theatre.
