HSE Update: Call for Evidence to Review Lifting and Pressure Systems Regulations opening soon!
1 October 2025
HSE will shortly begin work to review both the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR) and the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER). This will involve a ‘Call for Evidence’, to help identify and remove unnecessary regulatory burdens, and potential changes to both sets of legislation, to reflect technological advances and reliability of work equipment.
This review was announced by Number 10 under the Regulatory Action Programme (RAP), a government initiative led by HM Treasury to reform the UK’s regulatory landscape in support of economic growth, innovation, and business productivity.
HSE’s review of PSSR and LOLER regulations forms part of this broader initiative. The review aims to explore opportunities to reduce regulatory burdens on businesses while continuing to uphold high standards of workplace health and safety.
If you want to ensure you are on the mailing list for the call for evidence, please email externalaffairs@hse.gov.uk and you will be added to the mailing list.
