Job Description

JOB TITLE: Chargehand Electrician
Responsible to: Head of Electrics & Managing Director Responsible for: Casual staff
HOURS: 40 hours a week: day, evening, and weekend shifts.
Overtime as operationally required.
PAY: SOLT/BECTU Grade 3

The electrics department is responsible for the production’s sound and lighting and the realisation of technical services for all performances and events within agreed schedules and budgets. They also take responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of the building in liaison with the Stage Department, Technical and Building Manager and external contractors.

In so doing:
• Comply with Health & Safety regulations.
• Comply with all licensing and building regulations.
• Comply with all company policies and codes of practice.
• Minimise the Trust’s environmental impact and promote sustainability.

Main Responsibilities
• To operate the lighting console during performances and any rehearsals as required.
• To carry out daily lighting rig checks and production lighting maintenance.
• To work with the Head and Deputy Head of Electrics in ensuring all casual staff are adequately trained.
• To assist the Head and Deputy Head of Electrics in ensuring the daily duties, general maintenance, servicing, and inspections of the building are kept up to date.
• To assist in ensuring all health and safety and fire safety policies are adhered to.
• To take part in Trust workshops and additional events run by the Trust.

• Eager to learn, share their knowledge and develop new skills
• Good communication skills and pays exceptional attention to detail.

Essential Skills
• Experience in operation of high paced shows.
• Understanding of ETC Eos software and lighting networks.
• Experience in maintaining and repairing lighting fixtures.
• A good understanding of building maintenance, including electrical and plumbing knowledge.
• Knowledge of health and safety, fire safety, and its importance to the industry.

Desirable Skills
• Knowledge of ETC Eos programming.
• Trained in working at height (genies, ladders, and harness work).
• Basic sound knowledge, including setting up small systems, playback and qLab.
• First Aid Training qualification.
• Health and Safety qualification.
• Previous experience working with young people.
• A relevant electrical qualification
