We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Systems Integration Engineer to join our highly skilled integration team.
Working in various locations across the UK as and when required.

Job Summary:
In this Junior role, you will contribute to cutting-edge digital technologies, audio-visual, and sound system projects, providing exceptional technical support, and play a vital part in delivering and implementing intelligent lighting and audio-visual solutions. You will be part of our dynamic team of expert commissioning engineers operating within our highly skilled Integration Team.
You will specialise and integrate live digital technologies, audio-visual, and sound system operations, including audio networking, all within the context of the performing arts. Your primary focus will be to oversee the commissioning and programming of audio-visual systems in the field. Your primary responsibility will be to uphold the highest standards of technical installations within agreed deadlines for all PTB projects while maintaining a keen awareness of Health and Safety regulations.
Providing technical assistance, diagnosing issues, and troubleshooting common challenges faced by partners and customers. Playing a vital role in assisting the PTB Integration Teams in their daily responsibilities, ensuring efficient collaboration with stakeholders. A key element of the role is establishing strong, early engagement with stakeholders during the project execution phase, ensuring clear communication about timelines, key milestones, project completion, and handover expectations.
Collaboration is key in this role too, as you’ll work closely with your colleagues from various PTB technical disciplines. You could also be working alone but other times with another engineer or as part of a team. Your versatility will be put to the test as you occasionally step into senior technical roles to provide independent support.
From diagnosing and resolving system faults to delivering outstanding installation and service support, this role is integral to ensuring PTB client satisfaction and project success.
The position requires you to work across the UK (and sometimes abroad) on a regular basis.
Main Duties:
• Oversee and participate in the installation, configuration, and commissioning of audio-visual systems, including displays, video conferencing setups, audio systems, lighting systems and control platforms
• Offer on-site technical advice and support to all stakeholders, addressing challenges and delivering solutions when necessary
• Investigate and resolve technical challenges during installation. Accurately diagnose faults in audio and audio-visual systems, providing recommendations or escalating as necessary
• Conduct in-depth root cause analyses for technical issues, combining expertise with excellent customer service to deliver effective solutions that exceed customer expectations
• Monitor and report on all project and commissioning activities, addressing escalations, and proactively creating improvement plans to enhance the customer experience
• Review, interpret and understand technical drawings
• Engage in discussions regarding project execution, develop monitoring and control measures with customers, and ensure project close-out/handover is completed according to agreed-upon expectations
• Ensure all customer delivery experiences align with PTB’s procedures for Project Execution and Handover phases, including the commissioning, programming, and maintenance of control systems and products
• Establish and maintain effective communication channels with customers, promoting a proactive “CAN-DO ATTITUDE”
• Advocate for improvements in PTB’s solutions and provide constructive feedback to relevant departments to support continuous improvement
• Responsible for supporting customers and projects across the UK, ensuring seamless communication and service delivery
• Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure seamless project execution
• Act as a confident and effective communicator, ensuring clarity and professionalism in all interactions with customers and internal teams. Always maintaining a high degree of professionalism and diligence
• Confidently undertake work, working alone or as part of a team
• Ensure PTB Health & Safety standards are maintained and complied with at all times
• Undertake other reasonable duties as requested
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years lighting controls experience
• Bachelor’s degree in, Electrical Engineering, Technical Theatre or a related field
• Apprentice trained or engineering HNC/HND/Degree qualified
• High school diploma or GCSE
• Experience of configuring/ addressing dimmer racks
• Working knowledge of DMX infrastructure & IP lighting networks
• Some experience of hands on technical work
• Production lighting – dimmers & desks experience e.g. ETC
• Understanding IP network setup for AV system
• Full UK driving licence
• Proof of right to work in the UK

• Ideally from an engineering background (electrical training)
• Architecture lighting controls knowledge
• Audio DSP setup & programming skills
• Stage audio intercom systems knowledge
• 100v Public Address systems knowledge
• Digital signage system knowledge
• Video systems experience including analog and digital
• Foreground and Background audio systems knowledge
• Experience of AV control systems e.g. AMX, Crestron, Qsys
• Design of Graphic User Interfaces for end user control
• MEWP Safety Training Card, IPAF 3a, 3b
• First Aid Certificate
