Job Title: Lifting Operations Supervisor
Department: Stages (Rigging)
Location: National Theatre, London
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £56,389.79 per annum
Hours: Average of 42 hours per week (Flexible or part-time considered)
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Lifting Operations Supervisor to join our Rigging team within the Stage department. This role supports lifting operations across all three of our venues and other National Theatre spaces.
You will take the lead on the planning and management of lifting
Requirements for shows and events, from concept through to on-stage realisation. This includes overseeing performer flying effects, coordinating the installation of additional lifting equipment, and promoting best practice in working at height and lifting safety. You will work closely with rigging technicians, production teams, and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead on lifting operations for productions and events across NT venues
* Develop risk assessments and safety plans, and ensure compliance with LOLER and other relevant regulations
* Coordinate performer flying and temporary lifting installations
* Support technical teams with lifting solutions for NT’s commercial transfers
* Champion safe working at height practices across technical departments
* Contribute to staff training, supervision and planning
* Keep up to date with developments in lifting technology and safety standards
About You
* Substantial experience in entertainment or theatre rigging, or lifting operations
* Strong working knowledge of LOLER, HSWA and other H\&S regulations
* Experience in performer flying and installation of lifting equipment
* Confident project manager with excellent communication skills
* Comfortable working at height and leading on safety policy
* Flexible, proactive and collaborative in approach
