Scottish Opera is Scotland’s national opera company and the largest performing arts organisation in Scotland. We are passionate about bringing exceptional opera to audiences across the country and beyond, and our People and Culture team plays a vital role in supporting the talented people who make that possible.

We are delighted to be recruiting for the newly created role of People and Culture Assistant to provide additional administrative support to our busy and collaborative People and Culture team.

This role is offered on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering a high standard of administrative support. Working closely with the Director of People and Culture and the wider team, you will help ensure the smooth running of day-to-day People and Culture activities across the organisation.

About the role:

You’ll provide administrative support across a wide range of People and Culture activities, including:

•   Recruitment, onboarding and training administration.
•    Preparing contracts and employment documentation.
•    Maintaining accurate employee records.
•    Coordinating seasonal contracts and associated paperwork.
•    Managing confidential employee records and documentation.
•    Responding to People and Culture enquiries.
•    Providing general administrative support across the team as required.

No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys working across a broad range of tasks while contributing to a supportive and friendly team.

We’re looking for someone who:

•    Has at least two years’ administration experience, ideally within a HR or People and Culture environment.
•    Is highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
•    Has strong Microsoft Office skills and is confident working with databases and HR systems.
•    Can manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
•    Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Understands the importance of confidentiality and professionalism.
•    Enjoys working collaboratively while also being confident managing their own workload.
•    Takes a proactive approach and enjoys finding ways to improve processes.

In return, Scottish Opera offers:

•    Hybrid working.
•    25 days annual leave plus 10 public holidays (pro rata).
•    Company pension scheme with an 8% employer contribution.
•    Health Cash Plan.
•    Access to Perkbox, offering a wide range of employee discounts, rewards and wellbeing benefits.
•    Cycle to Work Scheme.
•    Opportunities to attend Scottish Opera dress rehearsals and Opening Night celebrations.
•    A friendly, supportive and collaborative working environment.
•    The opportunity to contribute to one of Scotland’s leading performing arts organisations and support the people who make our productions possible.

If you are an organised, proactive administrator looking to join a welcoming team where your contribution will make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.
