Job Description

We are currently looking for a Production Manager to join our Production team on full time permanent basis.

The Production Manager will play a key role in the Production Management team, working closely with the Director of Technical Production, Head of Production, the Production Management team and wider department and colleagues throughout the organisation to ensure the effective use of systems and resources to deliver the technical elements of a varied programme, primarily in commercial events, but also contemporary and classical music, literature talks, theatre and dance, to the highest standards.

The Production Manager will:
– Provide a professional, approachable and collaborative service to both internal and external clients ensuring their technical staffing and equipment requirements are met

– Play an active role in the development of the Production Department ensuring equipment and practices are relevant as well as planning for the future

– Demonstrate a commitment to best practice in all areas of staff management, in particular safety, performance reviews, training and disciplinary action, as well as being proactive in promoting a truly inclusive work environment

Key Responsibilities
– Ensure the smooth and professional presentation of technical requirements of each event.
– Manage budgets as required.
– Ensure Production activities are fully staffed.
– Line manage Senior Technicians and / or Technicians, to include the annual performance review.
– To be responsible for the management of Health and Safety issues within Southbank Centre’s policies and to ensure that safe working practices are used at all time.

Skills & Experience
– Demonstrable, extensive experience in one of the following artforms: theatre, dance, corporate events, classical or contemporary music, as well as a good working knowledge of the others.
– Experience of working in a multidisciplinary live arts environment with a demonstrable record in the delivery of events at the highest technical standards
– A working knowledge of the usage, operation and safe handling of the equipment of the disciplines covered by the Production Department including without limitation stage, lighting, sound, AV and temporary installations for a broad range of events: orchestral, contemporary music, conferences, talks, film screenings, dance and performance
– Communicates and work well with a broad range of people and provide a professional service to external and internal clients
– An experienced line manager with the willingness and ability to implement performance
