Job Description
The New Wolsey Theatre are looking for a Sound No.1 with experience of working in pantomime/musical theatre and with actor musicians for our Rock ‘n’ Roll pantomime production of Cinderella this winter.
The show features a cast of 10 actor-musicians and is directed by Doug Rintoul, Chief Executive/Artistic Director of the New Wolsey Theatre and written by Award-Winning comedian, writer and composer Vikki Stone. You’ll be working alongside Award-Winning Sound Designer Helen Atkinson. The New Wolsey Theatre was nominated as Theatre of the Year in the 2025 Stage Management Association awards and has a national reputation for work in access and inclusion, and for pioneering the actor musician form.
Dates
Sound No. 1 joins rehearsals from Monday 9th November 2026 (this is the third week of rehearsals)
Technical rehearsals commence 16th November 2026
First Preview: Friday 20th November 2026
Opening Night: Monday 24th November 2026
Fee
£800 per week, plus subsistence £235 per week if your home address is more than 25 miles from the New Wolsey Theatre. If your home address is less than 25 miles from New Wolsey Theatre the subsistence amount will be subject to negotiation.
Location
Rehearsals are at DanceEast, Ipswich, Suffolk. Tech and Performances are at New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich, Suffolk.
About you
- Experience as a Sound No.1 in pantomime or musical theatre is essential
- Experience of Yamaha desk DM7, Shure & Sennheiser wireless is essential
- Experience of working with actor musicians is desirable
- Experience of maintaining sound systems is desirable
