Job Description

Lowry is a visual and performing arts venue situated at the heart of MediaCityUK in Salford, one of the world’s most exciting culture and media destinations.

We currently have an opportunity for a multi-skilled Theatre Technician to join the Technical Department. The Theatre Technician works closely with the Head of Technical and the Technical Managers to ensure a smooth running of the Technical Department.

This role involves carrying out all duties associated with the get in, fit up, running and get out of a variety of productions & events taking place across our three theatres, conference rooms and also at time our outdoor performance areas. You will be required to work closely with our Visiting Companies & clients to provide efficient and professional support for all their technical requirements, and also complete any other tasks needed to help the company facilitate its business objectives.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position in a receiving or producing theatre is essential.

Stage / Flys: An understanding of stage craft, counterweight flying, general rigging and experience in the running of performances, Get Ins & Get Outs.

Lighting: An understanding of ETC Networking, LX maintenance and service of a large range of lighting fixtures, rigging from plans, focusing, plotting. Operating and some lighting design experience.

Sound: An understanding of QLab, Dante, Midi, Networking, rigging, focusing, timing of systems and EQ together with first line maintenance. Operating and some sound design experience.

Knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation.

Good level of IT skills.

We are looking for a team player with excellent communication skills, a proven track record of delivering a friendly and professional service and a pro-active approach towards personal development.

Please note that this role is 48 hours per week (averaged over a 17 week reference period). You will be required to work on a flexible rota pattern, which includes working weekends, bank holidays and evenings where required.
