Lowry is a visual and performing arts venue situated at the heart of MediaCityUK in Salford, one of the world’s most exciting culture and media destinations.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for highly capable, multi-skilled Theatres Technician to join the Technical Department. Working closely with the Head of Technical and the Technical Managers, this role is central to the safe, efficient and high-quality running of our busy producing and receiving venues.
This is a hands-on, venue-facing role involving duties across the get in, fit up, rehearsal, performance running and get out of a wide range of productions and events across our three theatres, conference spaces and occasional outdoor performance areas. You will play a key part in delivering smooth, safe and professional technical operations, working closely with Visiting Companies and clients to support their requirements across stage, flys, lighting, sound, AV, rigging.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar technical role within a receiving or producing theatre, live events venue or comparable performance environment is essential.
Stage / Flys / Rigging: practical experience of stage craft, counterweight flying, general rigging and the running of live performances is desirable. You will be confident supporting get ins and get outs, fit-ups, rehearsals and performances while maintaining safe working practices in a fast-paced receiving and producing environment.
Lighting: Practical experience of theatre and event lighting, including rigging from plans, focusing, plotting, basic operation, maintenance and fault finding. Experience with ETC systems and networking would be advantageous.
Sound / AV: Practical experience of sound and AV systems, including rigging, patching, basic operation, system checks, fault finding and first line maintenance. Knowledge of QLab, Dante, MIDI, networking, radio microphones, playback systems and presentation equipment would be beneficial.
The ability to work confidently across more than one technical discipline is essential, with a commitment to developing skills across stage, lighting, sound, AV and venue technical operations.
Knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation.
Good level of IT skills.

You will be confident learning new systems, adapting to the needs of different productions and supporting the wider Technical Department as required.
Please note that this role is 40 hours per week (averaged over a 17 week reference period). You will be required to work on a flexible rota pattern, which includes working weekends, bank holidays and evenings where required.
