Company Profile
Datum specialises in production carpentry and project management for West End, touring and international theatre. The company supports productions through fit-ups, installs, running repairs and ongoing technical care.
Datum has grown into one of the UK’s most extensive agencies for production carpenters and has developed into a wider technical services provider. The team works across all stages of a production’s technical lifecycle.
A central part of the company is Datum Hub our dedicated site in Surrey, designed for theatre logistics. The Hub provides secure storage, full HGV access, exclusive units and an on-site workshop. The workshop handles scenic refurbishments, repairs and adaptions.
With storage, workshop facilities and carpentry expertise in one place, Datum offers a circular workflow: the same team who fit up and tour a show also maintain, repair and store it. This continuity supports consistent and high-quality standards of work.
Datum also supplies a range of rental equipment for touring and technical teams and can design and produce custom-build items using our in-house AutoCAD capabilities. From late 2026, Datum will expand this offer with CNC services for bespoke fabrication and detailed scenic work.
In addition, the team undertakes custom builds for live events, from bar installations to trade-show stands and other project-specific structures.
Across all areas, Datum’s focus is straightforward: practical, reliable technical support shaped around the projects we’re working on.
