As the H&S Adviser, Melvin brings to the ABTT Technical Standards Committee, his knowledge of how H&S law is applied to the technical aspects of the theatre industry specifically and what compliance would look like in the often arcane world of work in theatre and associated industries generally. He also provides specific advice and guidance around interpretation of the general H&S law and how it would then be applied to the wider operation of theatre. Melvin has a broad expert witness practice ranging across the entertainment industry generally and bring this knowledge of the legislation’s varied applications in the wider industry to the table at meetings.
Melvin now runs the entertainment and leisure division of Finch Consulting Ltd which allows him to access the guidance and wisdom of 2 regulatory lawyers and have access to in house technical excellence around engineering, noise, occupational health, all of which he makes available to the Committee.
