Tony is currently chair of the Stephen Joseph Committee of ABTT, Emeritus Professor of Educational Theatre at the University of Manchester and a vice-president of the Manchester Lit and Phil Society. His publications include Learning through Theatre (multiple editions); Theatre, Education and the Making of Meanings; and Performing Heritage. He co-founded Manchester’s Centre for Applied Theatre Research; has been an active trustee of two professional young people’s theatre companies in the north-west, and an editorial board member of several academic journals; and has guest-lectured in Europe, the USA, South Africa and Australia. Stephen Joseph was one of his tutors during his undergraduate degree course at Manchester.

Tim Foster is a founding partner in Foster Wilson Architects and chairs the ABTT Theatre Planning Committee. He is also chairman of the OISTAT Architecture Commission, was a member of the international jury at The Prague Quadrennial in 2019 and a trustee of The Theatres Trust from 2009 to 2015.
