Company Profile

Theatretech are a small Theatre Consultancy and design practice, set up in 1978. They have worked on a wide range of projects in the UK and many other countries during the 40 years of their existence.

Their more recent overseas projects include the new National Theatre of Bahrain, the National Theatre of Cyprus, the Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmed Cultural Centre in Kuwait, 2 auditoria for the American University of the Middle East also in Kuwait, TV broadcast studios in Dammam and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, a large auditorium for the Palestinian Medical Relief Society in the West Bank, also a cultural centre in Ramallah, West Bank. They designed and project managed a new auditorium for the Al Maadi School in Cairo, Egypt, and an auditorium for the new American University in Cairo.

They are currently engaged on a new theatre for the British School in Muscat Oman, They are also the theatre consultants for the new Opera House and Recital Hall in Baghdad. They are the theatre designers for 4 professionally equipped auditoria in a new International School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which is currently nearing completion.

In the UK, they have just completed a new Music School for Trinity School, Croydon, and also one for the Kings School, Bruton. They have designed the stage lighting installation for the new Birmingham Conservatoire concert venues which is recently completed. At Warwick School they have recently completed a multi-million pound refurbishment and conversion of a large assembly hall into a Concert Hall.

Their expertise covers architectural design and acoustics, stage lighting, sound and communications, video and integrated control systems, staging and rigging, seating systems and layouts, conference and presentation, and all forms of performance scenarios, and in particular, flexible and multi-purpose spaces.

Their wide experience has ensured that they have a complete understanding of the difficulties in providing multi-use flexibility often required in Educational facilities, where not only is it a requirement to accommodate both music and drama in the same space (where acoustic requirements are at opposite ends of the scale), but also exams, conferences, lectures, presentations, dance, assemblies and prize-giving have to be catered for.

Theatretech are based in the south-west of the UK, and a full list of projects is available on their CV’s which can be downloaded from their website.
