4th November
ABTT Annual General Meeting

The ABTT held their Annual General Meeting today at Battersea Arts Centre and welcomed a record number of attendees for the meeting, lunch and tour of the premises.

Those attending arrived from 11.30am to enjoy refreshments and then we moved to the BAC Theatre where the formal Agenda for the AGM was conducted.

The results of elections to Council were also announced stating that Mig Burgess, Andy Franks, Peter Maccoy, Nikki Scott, Caroline Rouse, Emma Wilson had been elected and they joined the continuing trustees Louise Birchall, David Evans, Darren Joyce, Anette Ollerearnshaw and John Young.

An excellent tour of the BAC premises and new production facilities run by Jack Champion, Head of Production and Technical, Dan Shelley, Technical Manager and Mike Cunningham, Production Manager at BAC was then given, allowing us a thorough inspection of the splendid premises.

Thanks again to Battersea Arts Centre for opening their doors and letting us have a look around this amazingly restored Theatre!

STR Lecture – Creating Theatrical Magic: 50 Years of Designing Theatres

ABTT members attended the Society of Theatre Research, ‘Creating Theatrical Magic’ lecture this evening, presented by Nick Thompson and his wife Clare Ferraby who have worked together for over 50 years on more than 100 widely ranging interior design projects for the Performing Arts; more than anyone since Frank Matcham.

The challenge of reinventing historic theatres such as the Old Vic, London Coliseum and Victoria Palace for new audiences will be assessed against the aspirations of today’s directors in new venues.

More information on what was covered at the lecture can be found here.
