ABTT Annual General Meeting and Tour at Trafalgar Theatre 21st June 2024

23 May 2024

The ABTT invite you to come and join them at their Annual General Meeting at Trafalgar Theatre on the 21st June from 12pm (midday). We will be celebrating the Association's achievements and of course reflecting on the impact of past events.

ABTT Members with voting rights and any others with non- voting membership are invited to arrive from 12pm with formal business commencing at 12.15pm. This will be followed by some refreshments and social time followed by a guided tour of the refurbished theatre and a discussion of the current production of People, Places & Things.

Trafalgar Theatre

Is a spectacular Grade II listed building and is the result of a major multi-million pound restoration project reinstating the theatre back to its original heritage 1930’s design, some of which has not been seen for over 90 years.

Within the new single 630 seat auditorium, the newly restored decoration and lighting is black with silver, bronze and gold metallic hints, reflective of the original interior’s colour palette. Using historical photographs as a reference, the auditorium carpet and seating fabric replicate the original design patterns, with greens, creams and yellows to contrast against the monochrome walls.

The Balcony front – that had been carefully stored away for a number of years when the theatre was two studio spaces – has been beautifully restored and refitted to spectacular effect, along with the grand ceiling and proscenium arch. Elsewhere, the redesigned entrance foyer provides more spacious bars and a new Box Office with tiling and details inspired by the original 1930’s foyer design.

People, Places & Things

Duncan Macmillan’s (Lungs, 1984) intoxicating hit play PEOPLE, PLACES & THINGS, directed by Jeremy Herrin (Best of Enemies, Wolf Hall, This House) and designed by Tony Award-winner Bunny Christie including intimate on-stage seating, is a ‘must-see all over again’ (WhatsOnStage) at the Trafalgar Theatre.

Denise Gough reprises her Olivier Award-winning role as Emma, a struggling actress whose life is spinning recklessly out of control. Gough’s ‘blisteringly funny, brilliantly physical and achingly human’ (Financial Times) performance is once again thrilling audiences in PEOPLE, PLACES & THINGS – hailed by critics as ‘one of the greatest of her generation’ (Independent).
