Call to Action: Your knowledge wanted for PHD project about ABTT

27 July 2020

Dear all at the ABTT,

I hope this email finds you safe and well. I am a PhD research student, at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, currently undertaking a project that explores the role of the ABTT in the professionalisation of technical practice across post war, civic, and subsidised theatre.

I am looking for members of the ABTT to help this research by responding to these ABTT membership interview questions  and completing the accompanying consent form. I am keen to hear your thoughts on the individuals, networks, and influences of the association that have enabled the ABTT to become the preeminent organisation in technical practice. Although anonymised, your collective contribution will help to tell this story, whilst also providing a new key resource for the association’s archive.

The study aims to engage with a large proportion of technical professionals from across the UK, and with this in mind, please feel free to distribute these documents to fellow members within wider memberships, affiliated institutions, individuals, and networks who you feel may be interested in participating. Please be assured that this project has full ethics approval and evidence can be provided where requested.

If you have any questions, or would like further information about the research, feel free to contact me on the details below. Thank you in advance for taking the time to consider participating.

I look forward to receiving your responses.

Best wishes.
