ABTT Annual General Meeting and Tour at Southbank Centre 22nd July 2026

22 June 2026

The ABTT invite you to come and join them at their Annual General Meeting at the Southbank Centre on the 22nd July from 12pm (midday). We will be celebrating the Association's achievements and of course reflecting on the impact of past events.

ABTT Members with voting rights and any others with non- voting membership are invited to arrive from 12pm with formal business commencing at 12.15pm. This will be followed by some refreshments and social time followed by a guided tour of the theatre.

Southbank Centre

2026 marks the 75th Anniversary of the 1951 Festival of Britain where the Southbank Centre’s story began. A ‘beacon for change’ the festival offered optimism and an antidote to the suffering of the Second World War.

The main festival site was on London’s South Bank and at its heart was the Royal Festival Hall, the exhibition’s only permanent building. Officially opened by King George VI on 3 May.

This world-famous arts centre on the river hosts an incredible 5,000+ events a year across every genre of visual arts, theatre, dance, classical and contemporary music, literature, poetry and debate.

Throughout the year the Southbank Centre hosts a variety of festivals that are major cultural landmarks on the London calendar, including: the London Literature Festival, the London Jazz FestivalImagine Children’s Festival and the summer music festival Meltdown.

In addition to one of London’s biggest concerts halls – Royal Festival Hall, the expansive Southbank Centre site (easily identifiable by its bright yellow staircases) includes the contemporary art gallery Hayward Gallery, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Purcell Rooms and the National Poetry Library, as well as the Undercroft, a skate park that has been an iconic feature of London’s skateboarding scene for decades.

RSVP by July 7th by emailing admin@abtt.org.uk

AGENDA

    1. Apologies for Absence
    2. To consider, and if thought fit, to adopt the Report of the Association for the year to 31 December 2025.
    3. To consider, and if thought fit, to adopt the Accounts of the Association for the year to 31 December 2025.
    4. To announce the results of the Council election, following the outcome of the Ballot of voting members.
    5. To appoint the Independent Examiner to serve until the conclusion of the next Annual General Meeting and to authorise the Council to determine their Remuneration.

Special Business

  1. To consider, and if thought fit amend the Articles of Association by removing the historical ‘secretary’ role wording in the Articles and replacing it with a flexible ‘CEO (Chief Executive Officer)’ title that may be appointed or removed by Council if required. These amendments to the Articles will allow Council to delegate powers to management for day-to-day decision-making and to revoke those delegations when necessary. These changes are intended to formalise existing operational practice without changing the underlying governance structure of the ABTT. Proposed Amendments page 14 – 16.

NOTES

  1. Only current individual ABTT members (Fellows, Members and Honorary Members) may vote at General Meetings.
  2. Associates and representatives of affiliated organisations are entitled to attend and speak at General Meetings but have no vote.
